Lanzarote

from 5/12 to 12/12/2026

An island that can be defined as a work of art! Lanzarote is a place where natural elements and man have created a harmonious space. To explain this synergy, we must thank the great work of Cesar Manrique. We owe this well-rounded artist his significant contribution in educating and raising awareness of a dialogue with nature. He also deserves mention for his activist commitment to combating construction sites and buildings that sought to exploit the island. Thanks to this great man, Lanzarote, an island in the Canary Islands, was designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Our walking tour aims to help you discover the unique landscapes and trails of this volcanic island, as well as what man has managed to create and produce from this land of fire, where the signs of the last eruption in 1700 are still vivid and remind us of the power of the Earth.

5 dECEMBER: arrivAL IN Lanzarote

Meet at Malpensa Airport and take a direct flight to Lanzarote. Upon arrival, we’ll take a public bus to the village of Yaiza, a quiet town in the southern part of the island. For a few days, this will be our starting point for our excursions and visits to the island. Dinner and overnight stay.

6 dEcembeR: timanfaya NATIONAL PARK – salina di janubio

Breakfast. Today features two important visits, essential for understanding Lanzarote.
In the morning, we head to Timanfaya National Park, a must-see: Lanzarote is Timanfaya, and Timanfaya is Lanzarote. We’ll depart early in the morning with a transfer and then take a park bus for the tour: the only way to see this place! Here, we’ll encounter the explosive force of Mother Nature, man’s ability to exploit and extract resources from a major volcanic eruption that changed the island forever.
In the early afternoon, we’ll visit the Salinas de Janubio, the largest in the Canary Islands and still active. Production began after the Timanfaya eruption, which transformed what was once a port. The salt mine, established in 1800, still reflects tradition and provides employment for its inhabitants. At the end of the day, we return to our accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.

7 dEcembER: la santa – caleta de famara

Breakfast. Today awaits us a fine walk along the coast where the colors of the volcanoes, with their endless geological work, and the final tongues of Timanfaya meet the Atlantic Ocean. An intimate journey that begins in the village of La Santa and crosses an expanse of silence and rocks until reaching Caleta Famara. Here, a unique beach and its cliffs, formed by an ancient mountain collapse, leave us breathless! Here, a cold beer awaits, and for those who wish, the opportunity to go for a swim! Tonight we move to the village of Teguise, where we sleep in two small, family-friendly accommodations. Dinner and overnight stay.
Distance: 15km
Elevation gain/loss: +50– 50m

8 december: yaiza – la geria

Breakfast. We set off on foot from our village to explore one of Lanzarote’s iconic products: its vineyards. The farmers’ remarkable understanding of how volcanic soil could yield wonderful grapes is evident. La Geria is characterized by a lunar landscape where man has expertly created spaces specifically for vines. At the end of the tour, we’ll visit and taste a small family-run winery, perfectly in keeping with this magic! Through a taste immersion, we’ll explore how this vine is born and cultivated, tasting Malvasia and other wines produced here! At the end of the day, we’ll take a bus to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Distance 12 km
Elevation gain/loss: +340 -170m

9 december: from Haria to Teguise

This morning we head towards Haria, where we visit the house of architect Cesar Manrique. From here, our journey continues along the west coast. The scenery that awaits us is extraordinary: the cliffs towering above us, reaching heights of up to 600 meters in some places, the Atlantic Ocean, and the island of Graciosa… today, we have endless views that will leave us breathless. Slowly, we finally arrive in the town of Teguise, which awaits us with its light and its fortress! Dinner in town.
Distance: 12 km
Elevation gain/loss: +380 – 360m

10 december: mirador del rio – haria

After breakfast, we head north to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Canary Islands, the “Mirador del Rio,” which overlooks the island of Graciosa. After a stop at the viewpoint, we begin our journey south, skirting Ye and leaving the Corona Volcano, one of the highest on the island, on our left. We enter the Gayo trail, where an unusual landscape awaits: lush greenery and the walls of the Risco Famara. In the evening, we return to Teguise.
Distance 13 km
Elevation gain/loss: +300 -230m

11 december: la graciosa island

We can define the island of La Graciosa as a paradise. Today we’ll leave you with some free time to relax and enjoy a peaceful day on the beach, like at Playa Francesa. Alternatively, you can rent a bike to explore the northernmost tip and take a short tour of the beaches. In the afternoon, we’ll take the ferry to Lanzarote for our last night before returning home tomorrow.
Note: For those who wish, there’s also the option of walking along La Graciosa’s beautiful trails.

12 december:  flight back home

The morning after breakfast, we head to the airport, where we take off for Malpensa around noon. End of tour.

Trekking guide: Federica Amaducci
