Malta and Gozo

from14/11 to 22/11/2026

Semi-permanent trekking with moderate elevation changes in the Calipse Islands of Malta and Gozo, to discover the landscapes that the 19th-century writer Edward Lear described as "Pomschizilloso" and "Grombiferous," terms he coined to describe the magnificence of the environments he encountered. Based in Victoria, the lively capital of the island of Gozo, we will travel at a leisurely pace and in a climate suitable for walking, along sections of the Gozo Coastal Walk, along country roads, imposing limestone cliffs, secluded sun-kissed bays, fortifications built by the Knights of Malta, and hills topped with churches. We will also delve into the island's history, discovering some ancient megalithic temples and the evocative rock salt pans, as well as an excursion to the small island of Comino, surrounded by Mediterranean scrub. We conclude the program with a couple of days of culture in Malta, visiting Rabat with its beautiful traditional balconies, Mdina, the silent city, and the capital, Valletta.
